Before the two became a couple, Tom's early recordings (Neon Boys, Eno demos), from '74 or earlier, don't have that Patti Smith warble. Later, he took to the Smith sound with gusto! Tom claimed he, Patti and Todd Rundgren all sounded similar 'cause they all grew up near Philly! Sure Tom. Tom's a fine songwriter and guitarist, but, seriously, who'd try to emulate HIS singing?
