I vote for live vocals as you can hear a bit of feedback off Paul's mic right at the start :-) Around the 1 minute mark. Either way, way cool upload there, nazzman, thanks! I've loved the album ("Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme") for ages now, although I have to skip "7 O'clock News/Silent Night", especially this time of year. Powerful album, great clip.

The vocals sound live but I can't see the declining bass riff on the 6th string. Paul's
hands don't seem to move much here. What a pity we could not hear the live track as I love S&G live and pure so to speak. That is, unplugged, as they are in so many videos here.

Tangerinka410 and hamwinkle are correct: the vocals are LIVE. It was common practice on sixties televsions shows for artists to sing "live" to the studio tracks.

I´m sure the VOCALS really ARE live. I spend my life listening music of Simon and Garfunkel and I know every single note of their songs. I think that everyone with a bit musical ear must hear the differences between these two versions of the song, IMHO;-).

It is a great song either way, and I certainly don't mean to run down S&G! I grew up listening to them, and I learned most of what I know about fingerstyle guitar comping from watching and listening to Paul.
