Ive heard that the vets on course did not have the appropriate equipment, they didnt have an arterial clamp or anaesthetic to put him on his side..also that he passed away in the ambulance on route. ITs not on that vets are not equipped for such a major event, or such a horrific accident may not have had such severe consequences!

i was at fence 8 adn let me tell you EVERYBODY did their best to save the horses life, from the stewards, to vets to the crowd. No one could see what was happeneing at the green sheets went up. It was a complete freak accident. to discredit the people who tried in vain to save the big man is ridiculous

I agree, I was at the fence also! Every1 did there best even with the correct equipment i still dont think he would have stood a chance, by the time the rider managed to stop him he had already lost a significant amount of blood, and it was pumpin out that fast...It was a horrific accident which no1 could hav predicted! I did think the horse ambulance was a touch slow but in this case I doubt it wud hav changed the outcome!

I have no doubt that everyone did all they could do.I got this info from a steward. I just feel that it would be reassuring for other competitors that the vets had appropriate equipment on site for future injuries or problems .. there is no down fall in being over prepared!

I think the ones responsible are the ones that decided it was a wise idea to put solid flags right beside a jup. Common sense. They should have flags like in skiing. i.e they bend on contact. You wouldn't risk a person hitting a metal pole so why a horse?

Yeah I go along with that. Its crazy, cross country courses are dangerous enough if the jumps are misjudged, you would expect the flags to be made of bendy plastic or something, just common sense.

They need the flags that we use at Pony Club, they are on bendy flexi poles. It would have just bent...BOO TO WOODEN POLES!!!

common guys you cant say that it was the organisers fault this has NEVER happened it was a freak accident i was there watching my dad was the fence judge that day on that jump i can tell u it was just very unfortunate and unlikely to happen again
