Description:

Dear CSE Ministry, You released your materials into the public domain. Then, you suffered a tremendous blow to your reputation when Kent Hovind was imprisoned. Now, in an attempt to salvage that reputation, you declare all prior public domain materials "copyrighted," which is not something copyright law allows, and begin a campaign to ban critical users and videos from YouTube with DMCA claims. Your organization is legally savvy enough to know that this is fraudulent, but you are apparently willing to bet that no one will go to court in Florida to challenge your claims. Maybe you're right, even if it's beginning to appear otherwise. However, legal battle aside, the massive negative attention you are getting by utilizing these tactics FAR OUTWEIGHS the original "threat" posed by the non-commercial, user-made videos that you are eliminating. Read the comments! Look at what the videos are saying, instead of just banning them. No one agrees with your tactics. Even the Christians and Creationists, who would have otherwise supported you, are now condemning you for this. The scale at which people are responding, and the temperament you are provoking, is likely to draw media attention very soon. Here is what you can do to help salvage your reputation: 1. PAY ATTENTION. 2. STOP THE FRUADULENT DMCA CLAIMS. 3. RETRACT YOUR CLAIMS. 4. ISSUE A PUBLIC APOLOGY. Hasn't your ministry's reputation suffered enough? Sincerely, X Here are CSE's contact points: Homepage: http://www.drdino.com/contact.php YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=cseministry

I am an unapologetic independent Christian - and I absolutely abhor, despise, and condemn what this pseudo-biblical supposedly Christian "ministry" is doing. I will support (almost) anyone against the CSE. I may have had my doubts about them before, but now I know - they are disgusting!

you're absolutely right. I dont even know what to call these pseudo-christian sects, but as long as they are filling people's minds with total GARBAGE, i will support any and all actions against them. it is better not to believe in God at all, then to turn it into a mockery.

I like what you are trying to do, but I don't think CSE ministries is an entity that can be reasoned with. I hope they prove me wrong, and do as you suggest they do, but I will be very surprised if that happens. The dilemma you describe is very real though - and it is something that should be addressed properly in copyright laws...

...The sanctions against false copyright claims should be so prohibitively severe, that even a single user challenging such claims in court would be a threat that would make organizations like CSE think twice before employing such tactics.

Just to go to the newspapers and TV with this story. No point in reasoning with criminals.

Although the YouTube community is obviously up in arms, is there enough story yet to get media coverage? If so, I would think that those who have actually suffered from the bans would be in the best position to present the story. Contacting CSE is just one more approach, even if it's unlikely to succeed. If CSE's motive is reputation-related, this could present them incentive to stop. If their motive is sheer malice... well... it's time for plan B... or C.

Has anyone tried getting the ACLU involved? It seems we are at the least getting near that point.
