True, forgot about those points, the locations that were flooded. Shows you how effective and accurate they were when they blew the levees. But why didn't blacks evacuate on Greyhound buses? Were there none of those, either? Surely there must have been some warning on the news to evacuate before it hit. Plus, levees didn't break for a while, either, so they had several days to get out, yes?

Greyhound buses? There's not many of those, but there were alot of people who evacuated on buses, but don't forget that we were mandated to leave a day before, making it hard to get out. we were supposed be hit by the hurricane!

it was a last minute thing. 12 noon on sunday, the hurricane hit less 24 hrs later. do u actually think people could have gotten out with no problems? I evacuated to baton Rouge just an hour away. it took me 10 hrs to reach my destination.

Logitech67, u have sum excellent points. Im only defending the people who was less fortunate to evacuate. Sum people were either to lazy, didn't want to spend any money or just didn't want to leave their homes. Sum people were very ignorant. I don't support that! Sum had transportation and didn't want to leave. I know sum people, but they will remain anonymous. I was one of them, but i decided to go when they said it was going to be bad!

So, you decided to go when they said it was going to get bad. I'd expect that mentality to prevail, but it did not, for whatever reason.

No, actually I wasn't like that. I actaully left before they made it a mandatory evacuation. Saturday is when I decided to go because it seemed like the meteorologists weren't sure. I just had this funny feeling that new orleans was in for a horrible awakening. We were too lucky the previous years. I have to keep reminding you guys that the mandatory evac. was set on 12 noon. 1 hr after I left!

I was going to stay when they said voluntary evacuation. Usually when they say that, people either stay or move to a bigger building. that's what i was planning on doing. I didn't mean that i was going to leave at the last minute because everything was last minute, especially the status of the hurricane. We didn't find out until Saturday night that New orleans was going to be in danger!!!

Note: Katrina was expected to hit Alabama/Mississippi. This was reported Saturday 10:00 in the morning. That night, Katrina shifted left putting Orleans in grave danger!
